What is Female Metal music or Female fronted metal music?

Magazines and medias talk about a new genre called Female fronted Metal or female metal music, when they talk about metal bands with female singers. Firstly mass media called gothic metal or symphonic metal bands with female singer, but  soon they realized that was absurd, because each bands was into their own style. For example, Nightwish, Evanescence or Arch Enemy are very different between them.

But medias want to differentiate between male metal music and female, because the voices and the sound was different. (something very stupid). And a new metal music was born with their own metal styles: gothic metal, heavy metal, dark metal, black metal, death metal, doom metal, dark metal, folk metal, ...
